"Farm Safety Is Fun" Program
The "Farm Safety is Fun" program is a teaching program that delivers farm safety messages to children aged from 3 -12 years at home, attending early childhood centres and primary school. It incorporates learning skills and developing knowledge about how to keep themselves safe on farms, through play and exploration of developmentally appropriate toys/materials, in a portable kit called the Farm Safety Is Fun Kit. These messages are further enhanced through the Farm Safety Show.
It is developed around the premise that young children, dependent upon their abilities, are able:
1. To identify safe and unsafe places to play - LOOK
2. Tell adults where they are going and if there is danger - SAY
3. To play safely and act to protect themselves if physically able- DO
The program is designed around five safety areas-
- Keeping ourselves safe
- Water Safety
- Machinery Safety
- Chemical Safety
- Animal Safety
